Faculty members at the University of Bucharest are invited to design and submit proposals for Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), in collaboration with colleagues from other CIVIS member universities.
The deadline for proposals is November 14, 2025.
BIPs are an Erasmus+ mobility format that reflects the CIVIS Alliance’s vision of innovative, collaborative education. Each programme is designed and implemented in a blendef format: both a physical (5 days) and a virtual component, and is dedicated to education and training, offering students valuable international study opportunities.
Conditions
- Each BIP must involve at least three CIVIS member universities.
- Partners from the University of Glasgow, the University of Lausanne, or CIVIS-associated universities in Africa may also participate, but they do not count toward the “minimum three” requirement.
- Every programme must be endorsed by the dean of the participating faculties and validated by the University’s Erasmus+ Office.
Application Pathways
The call includes two application pathways:
New edition (”fast-track”) pathway
This pathway is open to submissions for a new edition of CIVIS BIPs4 implemented during the 2024/2025 academic year, according to the implementation calendar stated in this call. Additionally, two other eligibility criteria must be met:
- at least one of the coordinating academics (in case of multiple coordinators) of the respective BIP has participated in the evaluation process of the CIVIS BIPs, consisting of a survey conducted by CIVIS Coordination Office and CIVIS Education Unit;
- the 2024/ 2025 edition of the BIP has been positively evaluated by the participating students’, according to the evaluation process of the CIVIS BIPs, consisting of a survey, conducted by CIVIS Coordination Office and CIVIS Education Unit. At least 5 students from the previous edition of the BIP must have responded to the survey for the BIP to be eligible for this pathway.
Access the online application form for the fast-track pathway here.
Regular pathway
This pathway is open to BIP proposals submitted for the first time in CIVIS or resubmissions of previously implemented BIPs that do not meet all the eligibility and evaluation criteria states for the New edition (“fast-track”) pathway (as stated above).
Access the online application form for the regular pathway here.
Themes
The Blended Intensive Programme should include, where possible, themes not only relevant for the European context, but also for the African and/or the Mediterranean Areas, especially if members from Associate Member Universities in Africa are included in a BIP partnership. The BIP proposal must tackle one or more focus areas identified by the Hubs Councils:
- Hub 1: Climate, Environment, Energy
- Hub 2: Society, Culture, Heritage
- Hub 3: Health
- Hub 4: Cities, Territories, Mobilities
- Hub 5: Digital & Technological Transformation
The Added Value of BIPs
BIPs are designed to bring new perspectives to teaching and learning by offering:
- Specialized content not available elsewhere
- Transnational and transdisciplinary study opportunities
- Innovative teaching and learning methods
- Research-based education
- Challenge-driven approaches to societal issues
- Modern formats for both physical and virtual mobility
Through these methods, BIPs enrich existing programmes and open new possibilities for collaboration.
By participating, faculty members can:
- Exchange ideas on teaching content and curricular innovation
- Experiment with new teaching methods that could later be integrated into joint courses or curricula
- Strengthen research collaborations with international colleagues
- Enhance the visibility of their academic community
