On Friday, July 14, 2023, the University of Bucharest will organize, within the SciResCareer project, the conference Academic milieu vs. private environment from the perspective of applied research, given by George-Mădălin Giambașu, PhD.
The event will take place starting at 12:30 in the “Dimitrie Cantemir” Amphitheater of the Rectorate of the University of Bucharest (Șoseaua Panduri, no. 90).
The event is organized within the SciResCareer project – Regional Research Career Guidance and Counseling Center – Bucharest-Ilfov – from pre-university education to advanced research, activity A3.7. Promotion of science in society. This provides for the organization of interactive events like the science cafe with the invitation of personalities with outstanding scientific results, to present the field they represent and answer questions.
Mădălin Giambașu is an alumnus of the University of Bucharest, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree (2003, head of promotion) and master’s degree (2005) at the Faculty of Chemistry. He obtained his Doctor of Science degree in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Minnesota (2010), where he studied ribonucleic acid catalysis.
He continues with a postdoctoral fellowship at Rutgers University, where he contributes to multiple theoretical aspects of nucleic acid biophysics and co-authors the popular AMBER modeling suite. Since 2019, he has been a senior researcher at the pharmaceutical company Merck, Sharp and Dohme.
