For the 7th consecutive year, the University of Bucharest has recognized the merits of the most valuable members of its academic community, during the 2023 edition of the University of Bucharest Senate Awards Gala.
The event took place Wednesday, December 20th 2023, in the Ioan Mihăilescu Hall from the UB’s new Rectorate building and was broadcast live on the University of Bucharest Facebook page.
The initiative aims to bring recognition to the academic performance, research and civic involvement of members of the academic community of the University of Bucharest. Thus, during the Gala, prizes were awarded in the fields of Humanities, Social Sciences, Life and Earth Sciences, Exact Sciences and Engineering, for professional education/training, research, innovation and publications, for professor emeritus, associate professors and employers, as well as for journals and civic initiatives.
The winners of the Grand Prizes of the UB Senate were designated among the winners of the fields: “Professor of the year”; “Undergraduate/Postgraduate Program of the Year”; “Author of the Year”; “Research Project of the Year”; “Undergraduate Thesis of the Year”; “Dissertation of the Year”; “Doctoral Thesis of the Year”; “Alumnus of the Year”; “Employer of the Year”.
The patrimonial benefits related to the awards are decided by the Senate of the University and can consist either in:
- cash bonuses, participation in conferences or purchases of goods and services necessary for the exercise of the profession, for the employees
- excellence scholarships for students at the University of Bucharest.
The awards (including the Grand Awards) for Alumnus of the Year and Employer of the Year are honorary and do not have a patrimonial component.
