On Saturday, May 27, 2023, the XXVIII edition of UB Cross Country took place.
A number of 776 students and employees at the University of Bucharest, as well as their children, signed up for the competition hosted by the “Dimitrie Branzda” Botanical Garden of UB.
The opening speech and the start of the competition were given by prof. Victor Băran, PhD, director of the Council for Doctoral Studies (CSUD) of UB, an outdoor sports enthusiast.
At 10:00, the start was given to UB male students and employees, and at 10:30 to UB female students and employees. The route was approximately 2500 meters long, on the main avenue of the Botanical Garden.
The awarding ceremony took place after the two races. The prizes were offered by the Department of Physical Education and Sport (medals and diplomas) and by the University of Bucharest (sports scholarships amounting to 500 lei first place; 400 lei second place; 300 lei third place).
Vlad Andrei Arpinde, student at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work of UB, and Artemis Maria Mija, first-year student at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of UB won first place in the ranking. Also, prof. Nicolae-Adrian Dan, PhD, teaching staff at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work of UB, ranked first in the “UB Employees” category.
The youngest female participant was Sonia Sakizlian (4 years old), and the youngest male participant was Gruia Busurcă (8 years old).
“The competition was intended to be a moment of healthy leisure time in nature, and this year, with the agreement of the management of the Dimitrie Brandza Botanical Garden and the University of Bucharest, it was organized in a wonderful place, full of peace and color. Congratulations to all the participants!”, was the message of the organizers.
