On Friday 6 December 2019, the CIVIS alliance is organising “Mayors Day”, an event which will bring together universities, cities and regions to further discuss the opportunities CIVIS will bring to its local community.
During this day, the CIVIS alliance will inaugurate its representative office in Usquare, Brussels, an urban and inter-university campus created by ULB and Vrije Universiteit Brussel, its Flemish sister university.
On this occasion, Ms Themis Christophidou, Director-General of the European Commission for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture will make the honour to attend the event and inaugurate the CIVIS Office together with Prof. Eugenio Gaudio, current President of CIVIS and Rector of Sapienza Università di Roma and Prof. Yvon Englert, Rector of Université libre de Bruxelles.
In the afternoon, a round table discussion will be organised at the European Committee of the Regions on “the cooperation of Higher Education Institutions with local and regional partners”. The purpose of this event is to bring together Rectors, Presidents and members of the CIVIS European University as well as local and regional Officials to address the integration of a European university in the pan-european landscape and discuss the following questions:
– How can universities improve their contribution to the economic dynamism of their regions?
– How can universities, local authorities and citizen groups better collaborate on social and cultural issues?
– How can CIVIS universities become links between their regions?
