CIVIS invites BA, MA and PhD Students of the University of Bucharest to apply for the blended intensive programme “Linguistic cultures and communities in Europe (past and present)”, which will take place between the 21th of October 2022 and the 13th of January 2023.
The virtual part will be running from 21 October to 16 December 2022 (2 hours per week). The physical mobility part will take place from 9 to 13 January 2023. Students will come to Rome for 5 days and will engage in 4 hours of activities per day (20 hours).
The aim of the course is to encourage research in the linguistic cultures of the geographical areas of the 6 participating universities with a view to achieve:
- Appreciation of how language shapes identity and culture
- Knowledge of how languages live and are shaped within different geographic spaces
- Experience in fieldwork research methods
- Outreach to the general public.
Students will also participate in building the collections and devising displays for Eurotales, our Museum Lab of the Voices of Europe inaugurated in July 2022 at Sapienza which is our ‘outlet’ for involving also the general public in our research and in the dissemination of its results.
This course is open to Bachelor’s, Master and PhD students at CIVIS member universities. Applicants should have an interest in languages and social studies.
