The Administrative Council of the University of Bucharest is the operative management of the university divisions. It has the following membership board: the Rector who presides the Administrative Council, vice-rectors, deans, the Deputy Administrative General Director and the students’ representative appointed by the students’ board of the Senate.
Besides those members stated above, the Council of Administration sessions are also attended by institutional guests, such as the President of the Senate, the General Secretariate Director and representatives of meaningful unions, according article 81, line 2, from the Charter of the University of Bucharest.2
The Administration Council is self-regulatory, based on the University Charter and assembles every month or whenever necessary, upon President’s request.
The Administrative Council approves the operative institutional budget, the annual budget and the financial statement.
Other attributions of the Board of Directors:
- endorses the proposals for new study programs and proposes to the Senate the ending of the study programs that no longer fall within the mission of the university or that do not meet the standards of quality and financial efficiency;
- proposes to the Senate the long-term and medium-term strategies and policies of the University, on its fields of interest
- allocates to the faculties and departments their share of the basic funding;
- decides on the use of the University’s own revenues;
- verifies the inclusion of the faculties in the approved budget and takes the necessary measures in this regard;
- endorses consortium and partnership agreements with other higher education institutions in the country and abroad, as well as international cooperation actions;
- endorses the university’s participation in European and international organizations.
