Characterized by a continuous and dynamic process of transformation, the University of Bucharest is today a flagship university, a European university, a promoter of knowledge, science, and the values of an open society. Efficient, equitable and future-oriented, the University of Bucharest is today an authentic crucible for scientific and social elites, a university for future generations and for the future of the country.
As you know, UB is currently part of the CIVIS Alliance, along with ten other prestigious European universities. This membership represents for us a huge opportunity, but also a great responsibility. Therefore, we are firmly determined to reach the highest standards in education and research, both as part of the mission undertaken by our community and as a key component of the European University concept.
The collaboration within the alliance contributes significantly to strengthening our assets as individual entities and supports us in creating new platforms and tools that would not have been possible otherwise. Beyond the superior quality of local individuals and teams, the main competitive advantage of CIVIS is diversity, given both the geographical and cultural area covered by the member universities, and our excellent cooperation, which ensures a veritable unity in diversity.
The strategy of the University of Bucharest aims at consolidating and diversifying the study programs, supporting and elevating research in all fields, but also at developing the openness and international dimension of our community. We seek to ensure the connection of our institution to the main higher education centres in the world and to encourage students to access compound mobility opportunities and exchanges of experience.
Even more, nowadays, UB remains true to the belief that, in an increasingly divided world, in the age of post-truth and fake news, critical thinking and knowledge keep on being the only guarantees for preserving a free open society and the state of law.
Rector, Prof. Marian Preda, PhD
