Between April 8th -12th 2024, the city of Brad, Hunedoara County, hosted the first meeting of the international team coordinating the Erasmus+ project EMME – “Exchanging Memories – Memory of the Earth”.
The event took place at the “Avram Iancu” Theoretical high-school in Brad, the school being the main coordinator of the project, with the support of Hațeg County UNESCO International Geopark, administered by the University of Bucharest, and the Geopark in Azores, Portugal, Geoaçores – Associação Geoparque Açores.
The project aims to create an interdisciplinary school curriculum – “Memory of Earth”. Through structure and approach, it will bring to attention information regarding the history of the Earth, the separation of the continents, the formation of mountains, volcanoes, the evolution of life and climate during billions of years. At the same time, it will raise awareness on the importance of knowing our present vast natural and cultural patrimony.
Considering that planet Earth has a fascinating but little-known story, four schools, among which the one already mentioned in Brad and three others from Croatia, Portugal and Slovakia, with the support of international Geoparks, have proposed the EMME Erasmus+ project.

Objectives, activities, roles and responsibilities were analyzed. Also, during the workshops participants discussed specific aspects regarding the curriculum, updating action plans and the project’s calendar, revising the evaluation and monitoring strategies, as well as dissemination and sustainability plans.
