Between April 10-11, 2025, students and researchers from the University of Bucharest are invited to participate in the 4th edition of the Games of Science competition. Organized in partnership with the University of Bucharest, the competition offers students, master’s students, PhD students, and young researchers the opportunity to develop their scientific communication, collaboration, and public speaking skills.
The event is open to researchers aged 20-35 from all academic fields, regardless of their level of experience. Young people interested in participating in this event can register by completing this form.
The Games of Science winner will receive an international science communication workshop worth 2000 euros.
Before the competition, participants will attend an eight-hour training session on April 10. Following this, they will compete on April 11, presenting their research in a concise and engaging manner, with time slots of 15, 30, 60, and 180 seconds.
„Today, scientific communication is more important than ever to combat misinformation, inspire informed decision-making, encourage innovation, and connect academic research with the real needs of society. Through Games of Science, we aim to make this possible by providing young researchers with the opportunity to learn and practice public communication among peers, in a competitive and fun environment,” said Ada Roseti, president of SciPublicForum, the organization behind Games of Science.
Why participate in Games of Science?
Games of Science is more than just a training or a competition. It is a community for young researchers that offers: development of communication skills, enhancement of collaboration abilities, learning in groups and from peers, and the right context to practice public communication of scientific topics.
The winners of the local editions will receive prizes in books and other material things and qualify for the national final, where the grand prize includes participation in an international science communication workshop worth 2000 euros.
Who can register?
Games of Science is open to students, master’s students, PhD candidates, and young researchers from all fields, aged between 20 and 35, who wish to engage in promoting science to the public. Previous experience is not required, and the lack of experience does not prevent participation, as the training sessions provide valuable opportunities for participants to learn from one another.
The Bucharest edition is organized in partnership with the University of Bucharest, but students, master’s students, and PhD candidates from all higher education and research institutions in the area are invited, as well as those who can come to Bucharest on the dates of the event. The organizers will provide the training and meals during the training sessions, but transportation and accommodation costs are not covered.
For more information about this event, interested researchers are invited to visit the official Games of Science website, as well as its Facebook and Instagram pages.
