The University of Bucharest organized a kick off and introductory meeting of CIVIS – the European University Alliance, on Friday, the 1st of November 2019. The event took place at 13:00, in the Ioan Mihăilescu Hall from the UB’s new Rectorate building (90-92, Panduri Str.).
The event started with the official presentation of the CIVIS Alliance, focused on the strategies and objectives of the Alliance’s development and it concluded with a debate on the Erasmus + programme changes and opportunities.
Prof. Mircea Dumitru, PhD (Rector of the University of Bucharest), Prof. Romiţă Iucu, PhD (Vice-Rector), Assoc. Prof. Sorin Costreie, PhD (Vice-Rector), Prof. Lucian Ciolan, PhD (Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences) and Mrs. Alina Cristovici (Director of the UB’s International Relations Department) were the UB’s representatives at the meeting.
The event was also attended by representatives of the ERASMUS+ Agency, of the Ministry of National Education, representatives of UB’s traditional partners, governmental institutions authorized to decide on the higher education development and making of public policies.
CIVIS – the European University Alliance is an international alliance of 8 universities pursuing civic involvement, a multilingual environment and an area of innovative and responsible education, of cultural exchanges and citizenship action throughout Europe, from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean Sea. The CIVIS Alliance actively solves current problems of its citizens and institutions.
The CIVIS Alliance was selected this year into the first wave of Erasmus+ initiatives of European universities. The CIVIS Alliance has the following members – Aix Marseille Université (France), National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece), University of Bucharest (Romania), Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain), Sapienza Università di Roma (Italia), Stockholms Universitet (Sweden) and Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (Germany).
