The sixth edition of the Măgurele Science and Technology Summer School (MSciTeh) started on Monday, August 21, 2023, and had the topic “Applications of science and research for health”. For the second consecutive year, the Summer School was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization.
The program aimed to make accessible to the participants the research laboratories, the experience of the researchers from the institutes on the Măgurele Platform, of the teaching staff of the University of Bucharest and of their guests in order to stimulate and increase interest in science.
At the official opening of the event, which started at 12:00 in the Main Hall of the Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering “Horia Hulubei” (IFIN-HH) (Reactorului Street no. 30, Măgurele, Ilfov), were announced to take the floor the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization, Bogdan-Gruia Ivan, the director of the Extreme Light Infrastructure Nuclear Physics project of IFIN-HH, Călin Ur, PhD, the director of the Doctoral University Studies Council of the University of Bucharest, prof. Virgil Băran, PhD, the general director of the Institute of Atomic Physics, Florin Buzatu, PhD, the general director of the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics, Constantin Ionescu, PhD, as well as Deputy George Tuță, Quaestor of the Chamber of Deputies.
The opening session of the event was moderated by lect. Anamaria Nicola, PhD, teaching staff at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences of the University of Bucharest.
6 faculties and 7 institutes collaborate for the Summer School
Măgurele Summer School of Science and Technology was an event organized in the ReCoNnect consortium – Night of Researchers, by the University of Bucharest, the Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering “Horia Hulubei” (IFIN-HH) and the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INFP).
In addition to the researchers of the two institutes, teaching staff and students from the University of Bucharest are involved, through the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Chemistry, the Faculty of Physics, the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences and the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences. To these are added, as partners, the physics institutes on the Măgurele platform, the National Research and Development Institute for the Physics of Lasers, Plasma and Radiation, the National Research and Development Institute for Materials Physics, the Institute of Space Sciences, the Institute of Atomic Physics and National Research and Development Institute for Optoelectronics.
