Friday, April 26th 2024, the Moldova State University Senate (MSU) bestowed the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa (DHC) upon the Rector of the University of Bucharest, professor Marian Preda, PhD.
By conferring the title, at the initiative of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, Sociology and Social Work, the academic community of the Moldova State University expressed its gratitude for the essential contribution brought by sociologist Marian Preda in developing the field of sociology, as well as for the support the professor offered in consolidating collaboration relationships between Moldova State University and the University of Bucharest.
The Doctor Honoris Causa ceremony was opened by the Rector of the Moldova State University, professor Igor Șarov, PhD, who underlined the exceptional merits of professor Marian Preda in the field of sociology, his research in this filed and the excellent scientific results with international resonance he obtained, as well as his efforts to increase awareness about the role of sociology in educating the young generation. Professor Igor Sarov also thanked him for the support he offered to Moldova State University by getting involved directly and constantly in undertaking and implementing joint programs and other projects aimed at developing MSU.
I would first like to express my gratitude for this great honor that Moldova State University has granted me today, by bestowing the title of Doctor Honoris Causa. I address my thanks most particularly to the distinguished rector and friend, Igor Sarov, to the colleagues in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the Faculty of Psychology, Education Sciences, Sociology and Social Work, as being the ones who have made this proposal, but also to the Moldova State University Senate which approved it. It is an academic title that honors me, but at the same time obliges me, said professor Marian Preda, the UB Rector, during the DHC ceremony at the Moldova State University.
