During October-December 2018, the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Bucharest organizes a series of events dedicated to the 1918 Great Union Centenary.
On the 26th of October 2018, the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Bucharest organizes in partnership with same profile faculties from Iași, Cluj-Napoca and Timișoara, the first conference of the cycle „Personalities of Romanian chemistry in the last century”. Two similar conferences will take place at the UB’s Faculty of Chemistry, on the 16th of November and on 7th of December. The events, dedicated to scientists who contributed to the development of Romanian chemistry, academic education and science research in this field, will reunite current personalities of Romanian chemistry of the most important university centres who will present the chemistry schools from their university centres.
Also, on the 26th of October 2018, will be presented the photography exhibition „Chemistry Image in the Centenary Year”, within which will be exhibited photos taken by students, alumni and academics of the UB’s Faculty of Chemistry. This exhibition, which will remain opened between the 26th of October and the 22nd of December 2018, intends to uncover the beauty and magic of chemistry and reveal to the public the hidden aspects of chemistry, a special, colourful, fascinating world of both science and art.
On the 23rd of November 2018, also within the events dedicated to the 1918 Union Centenary, the Faculty of Chemistry will host the conference „The History Lecture – Romania after the Great Union”, delivered by PhD Prof. Bogdan Murgescu from the Faculty of History, director of the Council for Doctoral University Studies. The event, designed as a chance of meeting between humanities sciences and exact sciences, aims to bring Chemistry students closer to subjects as the problems and options with which Romania was confronted during 1918-1923, but also of their meaning for the subsequent evolution of the country.
The events, opened to the public, will take place in „Ilie G. Murgulescu” Amphitheatre of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Bucharest (4-12, Regina Elisabeta Bld., 2nd floor). More details can be found on the website of the Faculty of Chemistry and on its Facebook page.
