The Silk Road, which was established over 2.000 years ago, has represented the main commercial route through which China established connections with numerous nations of the world, making it possible to have not only commercial exchange, but also significant cultural interference. In the contemporary age, the New Silk Road is an important project, which fundamentally aims to develop the connectivity and the cooperation of China and Europe, Asta and Africa on economical, financial, commercial and cultural levels.

Promoting the Chinese language and culture represents the main aim of the Confucius Insitute within the University of Bucharest, recently awarded with the title of “Confucius Institute of the Year 2017”. The activity of the institute involves not only the organization of courses in universities and numerous pre-university education institutions, but also the development of cultural exhibitions, debates and scientific conferences on various subjects regarding the cultural relationships between Romania and China.
