On Thursday, March 23, 2023, the University of Bucharest received the visit of the president of the European University Association (EUA), Michael Murphy.
He was welcomed by prof. Romiță Iucu, PhD, president of the Orientation and Strategic Analysis Council of the University of Bucharest and member of the EUA Learning & Teaching Steering Committee within the European University Association.
The discussion addressed issues related to the future of European universities in the context of the current strategy promoted by the European Commission regarding European Alliances. In addition, during the meeting, the contribution of the University of Bucharest and its specialists to the development of the European University Association and to the development of CIVIS was also discussed.
The visit comes in the context where prof. Romiță Iucu, PhD, president of the Orientation and Strategic Analysis Council of the University of Bucharest, is a member of the EUA Learning & Teaching Steering Committee within the European University Association.
Along with prof. Romiță Iucu, teaching staff at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of UB, this committee also includes Manel Jiménez-Morales, from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (Spain), Marja Sutela, from Tampere University in Finland, Marta Žuvić from the University of Rijeka (Croatia) and Ruben Janssens, member of the European Students’ Union.
The mission of the EUA Learning & Teaching Steering Committee is to provide expertise and guidance for EUA teaching and learning activities, including thematic working groups responsible for various aspects of educational processes (2022 EUA Learning & Teaching Thematic Peer Groups).CIVIS is a European University Alliance that brings together 11 member universities: Aix-Marseille Université (France), National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece), University of Bucharest (Romania), Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid ( Spain), Sapienza Università di Roma (Italy), Stockholm University (Sweden), Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (Germany), University of Glasgow (UK), Paris Lodron University Salzburg (Austria) and University of Lausanne (Switzerland). Selected by the European Commission among the first 17 European pilot universities, the CIVIS Alliance brings together approximately half a million students and over 70,000 staff members, including 37,400 academics and researchers.
