Between 26-27 September 2019, the University of Bucharest hosted the “Universitaria” Consortium doctoral students National Conference, the main national event for doctoral students in social sciences and humanities.
Organized by the University of Bucharest, through the Council for Doctoral Studies, in collaboration with partner universities and with the UB’s Doctoral School in Communication Sciences, this year the conference gathered participants from four of the most prestigious Romanian upper studies institutions: the University of Bucharest, the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, the West University of Timișoara and the „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași.
This event was addressed to doctoral students with areas of interest in philology, sociology, communication sciences, psychology, education sciences and theology, being a significant event for the Romanian doctoral schools. The program included over 50 presentations, selected through a contest organized by each University of the Consortium.
“The doctoral students’ conferences from the “Universitaria” Consortium member universities were initiated to facilitate to the best doctoral students the opportunity to meet each other, to present the results of their research, to see what their colleagues from other highly prestigious universities have researched and to form long-lasting scientific partnerships. I recall the importance of the annual meetings with the colleagues in Cluj and Iași, how much they stimulated me to be better and helped me find “lifetime” friends. Therefore, together with my colleagues from UBB, UAIC, UVT and ASE, with whom I initiated this conferences, I believe that we contributed not only to the improvement of each PhD student which participates to the event but also to the strengthening of long-lasting professional networks and scientific fields in Romania”, stated Prof. Bogdan Murgescu, PhD., the Director of the Council for Doctoral Studies of the University of Bucharest.
The Universitaria Consortium reunited five universities from Romania: the University of Bucharest, the Babeș Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, the West University of Timișoara and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. The purpose of creating the Consortium is represented by the member universities cooperation for the scientific research and academic activity increase, in order to achieve national and international recognition of their prestige and classification in the category of reference universities in Europe.
