Between September 19th – 20th 2024, a delegation of the University of Bucharest participated, in Dublin, to a transnational meeting for project Accelerating the Triple Transition in European Retail through skills – Skills4Retail.
The delegation was lead by professor Răzvan Papuc, PhD, vice-rector for Infrastructure Administration and Patrimony of the University of Bucharest, and included associate professor Cosmin Olteanu, PhD, lecturer Cătălin Grădinaru, PhD, and lecturer Ștefan Catană, PhD, teaching staff of the UB Faculty of Business and Administration.
During the meeting, the organizers presented the situation of the activities undertaken during the first year of the project and sketched the strategical objectives and plan of actions for the following period. On September 19th 2024, a meeting took place between the representatives of the consortium and Irish Minister of State with responsibility for Business, Employment and Retail, Mrs. Emer Higgins, who shared her vision on the development of the retail sector.
Within project Skills4Retail, the University of Bucharest is a co-leader within work package 3 – VET training curriculum development, content and certifications. Teaching staff of the Faculty of Administration and Business created courses and will organize, in the following period, trainings to answer the need of urgent and long-term competencies (work package 4).
Project Skills4Retail is financed by the European Commission and aims to stimulate The triple Transition – green, digital and resilience – by providing personalized educational and professional training programs (VET) for new and existing staff in retail. Equipping the work-force with competencies prepared for the future, Skills4Retail aims to stimulate durable growth and innovation of the retail industry in Europe.
The consortium is formed of 30 partners from 9 EU countries and is coordinated by JA Europe, uniting top education institutions in Europe, leaders in the industry and service providers. Jointly, a new strategy for retail competencies is being developed in order to answer the sector’s urgent needs. Skills4Retail offers various flexible options of learning, including modular short-term courses and work-place learning, available in Ireland, Austria, Romania and Hungary.
