Special Admission Session and Performance Scholarships for Olympians and Athletes who Choose the University of Bucharest
Bucharest, June 23, 2023. The University of Bucharest (UB) is putting up for competition, for the summer session of 2023 admission, almost 8,000 budgeted places. For the bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programs, the admission competition to the UB faculties – the summer session – is held from today until the end of July 2023, and the deadline for displaying the results is July 28, 2023.
To support candidates, the University of Bucharest offers both the possibility to pay the registration fee online, by completing the form available at www.po.unibuc.ro, and the possibility to register online for the admissions competition.
For undergraduate studies, the University of Bucharest offers candidates interested in studying at one of the 19 faculties a number of 4,461 budgeted places, for those interested in master’s studies, UB offers 3,200 budgeted places, while the doctoral schools of UB put up for competition 338 budgeted places, of which 159 places are with scholarships.
Out of the total number of places put up for competition, 212 are allocated to Romania’s priority development areas, 128 are assigned for high school graduates from rural areas and another 100 places are allocated to candidates of Roma ethnicity. Candidates coming from the social protection system can apply for the 15 undergraduate places reserved to them, while persons with special educational requirements can apply for the 7 dedicated places. Another 50 budgeted places are allocated to candidates who wish to study within the didactic master’s programs run by the University of Bucharest.

The University of Bucharest is organizing, starting with the academic year 2023 – 2024, a special admission session for international Olympians and athletes medaled at European and world competitions for Olympic sports and chess and at the Olympic and Paralympic games, prior to the admission session for all candidates. They will register at the email address admitere.olimpici@g.unibuc.ro, according to the special calendar established and available on the admitere.unibuc.ro website.Also, starting with the 2023-2024 academic year, the University of Bucharest is offering 20 scholarships to pupils and students with gold, silver or bronze medals at scientific Olympiads and international competitions who choose to continue their studies in one of UB’s 19 faculties. The scholarships are aimed at medalists at Olympic Games, World and European Championships, World University Championships for Olympic sports and chess, including those organized for people with disabilities.Thus, for the academic year 2023 – 2024, the monthly amount of the scholarships will be 1,500 lei (gold medal/first place), 1,250 lei (silver medal/second place) and 1,000 lei (bronze medal/third place).
Accommodation in the UB dormitories and free access to the “Dimitrie Brandza” Botanical Garden for all candidates
To support the candidates, the University of Bucharest provides them, during the admission period, with free accommodation in the UB dormitories, within the limit of available places, for three nights. The accommodation will be in the “Grozăvești” Campus and will be possible based on the presentation, at the dormitory administration, of the competition card and the identity document.Candidates can also benefit, along with two other people, from free access to the “Dimitrie Brandza” Botanical Garden of the University of Bucharest, daily, until July 26, 2023, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Access is based on the participant’s competition card. The University of Bucharest will constantly communicate information on admission from this session on the website admitere.unibuc.ro.
