Hebatalla Kamaluddin Nurdin, a third-year student at the Faculty of Biology (majoring in Biochemistry), has been selected to participate in the European Student Assembly (ESA), which will take place in Strasbourg, France, from May 26 to 28.
„I was very eager to take part in this event because the European Student Assembly (ESA) is a platform that gives students the opportunity to contribute to the future of Europe,” Hebatalla explained. „I will be participating in Panel 5, „Education Beyond Graduation”, where we will discuss the strategies Europe needs to promote lifelong learning so that citizens can keep up with rapid technological advancements and socio-economic changes. I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity, as I’ll be collaborating with students from different fields,” she shared.
Hebatalla Kamaluddin Nurdin has already participated in three BIP courses under the CIVIS initiative (BIP-CHANCE: Undergraduate Research on the Sustainability of the Danube Delta (organized by the University of Bucharest), BIP The Science, Ethics, and Governance of Human Genome Editing (University of Tübingen, Germany), and BIP Natural Products and Formulation (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece). She also took part in a one-year CIVIS exchange program at the University of Glasgow, UK. „I believe that taking part in CIVIS programs pushes me out of my comfort zone because they encourage me to explore various multidisciplinary fields and collaborate with peers from other countries,” she said.
The European Student Assembly (ESA) is a flagship annual initiative of the EUC Voices Erasmus+ project, bringing together around 250 students from European University Alliances, including 4EU+, to discuss key issues shaping Europe’s future. Selected students will participate in one of eight discussion panels focusing on topics such as mental health, climate policy, artificial intelligence, and inclusion. ESA participants will also have the opportunity to develop and present policy recommendations, contributing to a more inclusive and democratic Europe.
