Mariana Mangiulea Jatop was born in Romania, but her mother tongue is Bulgarian. She studied Bulgarian language and literature, as well as English language and literature at the University of Bucharest. She is currently a PhD Assoc. Professor at the Department of Slavic Philology within the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Bucharest.
Her main activity is concentrated in the academic field, where she successfully combines the teaching activity with the scientific study of the old and contemporary Bulgarian language, of the Romanian-Bulgarian linguistic relations. At the same time, she translates into Romanian contemporary Bulgarian authors.
