Vichi-Eugenia Ciocani completed both her BA and MA in Classical Philology at the University of Bucharest (2001, 2002). She subsequently pursued doctoral studies in the Department of Classics at the University of Toronto (2004–2013). She defended her PhD dissertation in September 2013 under the supervision of Professor Hugh Mason; her thesis examined virginity in ancient Greek literature, from Homer to the Greek novels. In Canada, she taught a wide range of courses at the University of Toronto, York University, and St. Philip’s Seminary, including Latin, Ancient Greek, Biblical Greek, Greco-Roman mythology, and Ancient Greek history. In recognition of her teaching, she received the University of Toronto Department of Classics Teaching Award in 2012. She has published numerous translations from Latin and Greek into Romanian. Since 2024, she has held a permanent position in the Department of Classical Philology at the University of Bucharest. She also serves as Secretary of the Romanian Society for Classical Studies.
