From November 18-22, 2024, the University of Bucharest is hosting the five-day practical training session of the CIVIS BIP program titled „Co-creating Urban Futures – Citizen Participation in Local Governance”.
The event gathers 47 students and 11 faculty members from the Faculty of Geography of the University of Bucharest, as well as from the University of Glasgow, Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, Sapienza University of Rome, Université libre de Bruxelles, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, and Stockholm University.
The program is coordinated by Mihai Răzvan Niță, PhD, Cristian Iojă, PhD, and Athanasios-Alexandru Gavrilidis, PhD, faculty members at the Faculty of Geography, University of Bucharest.
The activities aim to explore the role of co-creation and local governance in addressing urban challenges in various contexts. These include teaching sessions, interactive seminars for students, field visits for case study analysis, and interactions with different local stakeholders.
This year marks the third edition of the CIVIS BIP program „Co-creating Urban Futures – Citizen Participation in Local Governance” organized by the University of Bucharest in partnership with the University of Glasgow (Scotland), Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (Germany), Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), and Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). In previous editions, the in-person component was held in Brussels and Rome.
