The first edition of UNICA Days, themed Navigating the Future: Strengthening Democracy through Education and Research will take place between February 28th – March 1st 2024, in Brussels. The 2024 edition will approach important subjects for modelling the future of the UNICA network, as well as new perspectives and angles in improving European higher education.
The University of Bucharest is represented at UNICA Days 2024 by associate professor Sorin Costreie, PhD, president of Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe – UNICA and teaching staff at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Bucharest and coordinator of the CIVIS Alliance withing UB. Associate professor Constantin Vică, PhD, vice rector for Internationalization and Public Relations of the University of Bucharest and teaching staff at the UB Faculty of Philosophy, and professor Romiță Iucu, PhD, President of the Board of Trustees and part of the teaching staff at the UB Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, as coordinator of UNICA EduLAB workgroup, will also attend the conference along professor Sorin Costreie. Romanian Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, is also present at the event.

Among the subjects discussed within the lectures and workgroups of the first UNICA Days edition are: the democratic mission of universities before the 2024 European Parliament elections, developing the transnational cooperation in the field of European education, as well as the vision for a new European strategy in research and innovation.
UNICA is the best example of a transnational successful cooperation in the academic field, says Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner of the EU Commission for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.

Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe – UNICA is a network comprising 56 universities in 41 capitals of Europe, which counts over 1.5 million students. The University of Bucharest adhered to UNICA in 1993.
