CIVIS announces the opening of the registration for the short online CIVIS course “Ocean Sciences: Ocean law and governance”. The programme will take place approximately once a week from 1 November to 14 December 2021.
This course aim at providing an interdisciplinary insight of the legal, institutional and policy-making dimensions pertaining to contemporary ocean affairs. The programme includes an introductory course on the legal and institutional framework of ocean governance, as well as six specialised courses on different ocean policy domains that are at the forefront of ocean management today.
Applicants should be MA and PhD students at one of the CIVIS member universities in the field of Social Science and Humanities with a working knowledge of English of at least B2 level.

The assessment will take place in December 2021 and will be based on a take-home examination of 24 hours.
Students are expected to follow all courses in the block to qualify for the final examination. Participating students will receive a certificate of attendance.
This course is part of the European University of Ocean Sciences, a coordinated set of activities and programmes within CIVIS which explore vital questions for Europe’s marine and maritime environments.
