The Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB) invites mycologists in Romania and worldwide to participate in an upcoming edited academic book devoted to the diversity, systematics, ecology, and applied importance of fungi.
Entitled “The Orphans of Rio in Romania: Diversity, Systematics, and Applied Mycology”, the volume is being developed and published by the University of Bucharest Publishing House and is coordinated by prof. Ahmed M. Abdel-Azeem (Suez Canal University, Egypt; ICUB – University of Bucharest, Romania; University of the Free State, South Africa) and prof. Carmen Chifiriuc (Vice-Rector for Research; Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Bucharest, Romania).
The volume aims to establish itself as a high-quality reference that supports Romanian and international mycology and welcomes contributions from researchers and practitioners across fields including (but not limited to) taxonomy and systematics, fungal ecology, environmental mycology, medical mycology, conservation, ethnomycology, and methodological advances.
How to participate
1) Complete the Google Form.
2) Indicate the chapter topic (only one) you wish to contribute to and provide a short description of your proposed content.
3) After submission, you will receive the chapter format, templates, and detailed instructions.
4) Submit your completed chapter by 31 May 2026.
