PROJECT TITLE:
Evaluation by FRET of the physiological stability of nanogels incorporating MRI contrast agents
PROJECT ACRONIM: GElFret
Project no: 6BM/2019, PNIII-P3-3.1 – PM -RO– FR-2019-0204
This project is within the context of the contribution of nanotechnology to the encapsulation of active substances dedicated to medical imaging. Its objective is to provide stability responses of nanogels incorporating gadolinium-based commercial contrast agents (GdCAs) for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Fluorescent nanogels will be developed and their stability will be evaluated by the Förster resonance energy transfer technique (FRET), depending on the incubation in different physiological media. In vitro monitoring of these fluorescent nanogels will also be performed by fluorescence microscopy on different cell lines. Also, the biocompatibility of nanogels and their biological effects will be investigated using cell cultures. In this project, the scientific cooperation between the two research groups in Romania and France will be strengthened. Expected results will include the bilateral visits of the researchers involved, co-publications and obtaining international patents for fluorescent nanogels used in medical imaging.
