CIVIS announces the organization of the 2023 edition of the Global CIVIS Days event on May 24, 25 and 26, 2023. Entitled Sustainably Connected Universities, this year’s edition will focus on the relationship between society – culture – sustainability.
The event, organized in 2023 by the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, will bring together students, teaching staff, administrative staff from the member universities, decision-makers and innovation makers and local authorities from all over Europe.
The meetings within the Global CIVIS Days aim to create an adequate milieu for discussions and cooperation in order to strengthen CIVIS by identifying innovative solutions to the societal challenges that CIVIS faces.
Thus, the three days of Global CIVIS Days 2023 will include numerous workshops, conferences, working meetings and other activities, organized in three main formats, which will highlight the academic and societal relevance of CIVIS, the reality of the CIVIS Alliance seen as an interuniversity milieu, but also the commitment to society of all CIVIS member universities. At the same time, several open sessions will be organized within the Global CIVIS Days, with the following topics:
CIVIS – A sustainably connected alliance;
Taking on wicked problems in the anthropocene;
What is the role of education?;
Cultural heritage – Global challenges;
Possible futures in medicine and health;
Foodscapes and postcolonial landscapes as fields for interdisciplinarity;
Making/ seeking/ sharing homes and being at home in a digital age.

Global CIVIS Days is an opportunity for CIVIS academic community to meet, discuss, innovate and celebrate.Global CIVIS Days is the main annual CIVIS event and brings together students, teaching staff, researchers and other university staff, civil society representatives, thinkers, public policy makers and representatives of local authorities from all over Europe. The goal is to connect communities, to discuss and develop joint projects that contribute to the development of the CIVIS Alliance and to identify innovative solutions to societal challenges.Each year, the event is hosted by another CIVIS member university.
