On Wednesday, 17 June 2026, the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest and the Mycology Club of the University of Bucharest invite you to attend a special guest lecture delivered by Professor Lobna Hajji-Hedfi (Tunisia).
The lecture, titled “Integrating Innovative Microbial Solutions for Sustainable Plant Protection against Phytopathogens”, will take place between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM (Romania Time) at the Faculty of Biology (91–95 Splaiul Independenței, PCBES New Building, 3rd floor, Room 301).
The event is addressed to students of all study levels, researchers, academic staff, as well as anyone interested in the field.

About the lecture
The presentation will explore innovative microbial approaches for sustainable plant protection, highlighting the role of beneficial microorganisms in disease management, crop resilience, and environmentally friendly agricultural practices. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research and discuss emerging strategies for addressing global challenges in plant health and food security.
About the speaker
Professor Lobna Hajji-Hedfi is an Assistant Professor of Phytopathology at the Regional Centre of Agricultural Research of Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia, and an internationally recognized researcher in plant pathology, mycology, and sustainable agriculture. Her research focuses on fungal biodiversity, plant disease diagnosis, biological control, regenerative agriculture, and climate-resilient cropping systems. She has coordinated major international projects, including PRIMA-funded initiatives on sustainable and regenerative agriculture across the Mediterranean region.
Professor Hajji-Hedfi has authored more than 80 scientific papers and 12 book chapters and has supervised numerous undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. Her scientific excellence has been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the African Women for Science Award (2022), supported by the Spanish Foundation Mujeres por África, and the Ethel Mary Doidge Medal for Young Mycologist in Africa (2024). Through her research, mentorship, and international collaborations, she continues to advance sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and food security in Africa and beyond.
