CIVIS Days 2026 –”CIVIS Week on African Cooperation and Mobility within the European Universities Initiative” (8–12 June 2026)

The University of Bucharest launches the call for applications for participants from CIVIS Associate Member Universities in Africa, under the Erasmus+ KA171 – International Credit Mobility programme (KA171 2023), for participation in:
CIVIS Week on African Cooperation and Mobility within the European Universities Initiative (8-12 June 2026)
Organising and Host Institution: University of Bucharest, Romania
The selection procedure is organised exclusively by the host institution.
🔷 Selection Procedure: The selection will be organised exclusively online by the University of Bucharest.
🔷 Type of Mobility: Erasmus+ KA171 – Staff Mobility for Training (STT)
Mobilities are implemented in accordance with the Erasmus+ Programme Guide applicable to KA171 2023.
🔷 Eligible Partner Universities 🔷
This call is addressed to staff members from the following from CIVIS Associate Member Universities in Africa:
- Morocco – Université Hassan II de Casablanca (UH2C)
- Mozambique – Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM)
- Senegal – Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (UCAD)
- South Africa – University of the Witwatersrand (Wits)
- Tunisia – Université de Sfax (US)
- Uganda – Makerere University (MAK)
Number of Funded Mobilities: A maximum of two funded mobilities per African partner university.
Only staff members employed at the above-mentioned institutions are eligible to submit applications under this call.

Only complete applications submitted through the indicated link will be considered.
Applications will be assessed through a continuous evaluation process, until the allocated funds are exhausted. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit complete applications by 31 January 2026 in order to allow sufficient time for the visa procedure. Applications submitted after this date may be considered, subject to the availability of funds and the feasibility of completing all administrative and visa procedures.

- Curriculum Vitae (CV);
- Copy of passport;
- Copy of Schengen Visa if available

The selection process follows Erasmus+ principles of transparency, equal treatment and full documentation.
🔷 Proposed Profile of Participants:
- One High-level mobility expert or institutional mobility manager, ideally with a focus on Europe or with demonstrated competence to engage in exchanges with European partners. This participant is expected to contribute to discussions on mobility strategies and operational issues during the pre-programme (8–9 June). The participant must attend the full 5-days programme and will receive an Erasmus+ travel and subsistence grant.
- One further institutional representative actively engaged in CIVIS activities and familiar with the CIVIS framework, such as: – the CIVIS Contact Person; – a member of a CIVIS Steering Committee; – a CIVIS Hub representative; or a similar role.
🔷 Duration of the Mobility
The physical mobility will take place from 8 to 12 June 2026.within the framework of the CIVIS Week,
- 5-days on-site programme at the University of Bucharest. – Minimum of 5 days of physical presence at the University of Bucharest. – Up to 2 additional travel days may be financed, provided that the travel takes place before and after the activity period. – Physical presence must be proven through travel documents (flight tickets and boarding passes).
🔷 Selection Committee: The selection will be carried out by a committee appointed by the University of Bucharest. The members of the selection committee will sign Conflict of Interest Declarations.
🔷 Invitation Letter and Visa Procedure: After the selection results are confirmed and all required documents are received, the University of Bucharest will issue the official Invitation Letter needed for the visa application.

Applicants are informed that the Romanian visa procedure may take a minimum of two months and cannot be accelerated. Early initiation of visa procedures is strongly recommended.
🔷 Erasmus+ Grant – Financial Conditions: The Erasmus+ grant consists of a subsistence grant and a travel grant.
Subsistence grant: 140 EUR per day.
Example: 7 days (5 activity days + 2 travel days) × 140 EUR = 980 EUR.
Travel grant: fixed amount, calculated according to the Erasmus+ distance band between the home city of the partner university and Bucharest.
Applicable travel grant amounts:
– Morocco – Romania – Morocco: 530 EUR (3000–3999 km)
– Mozambique – Romania – Mozambique: 820 EUR (4000–7999 km)
– Senegal – Romania – Senegal: 820 EUR (4000–7999 km)
– South Africa – Romania – South Africa: 820 EUR (4000–7999 km)
– Tunisia – Romania – Tunisia: 275 EUR (500–1999 km)
– Uganda – Romania – Uganda: 820 EUR (4000–7999 km)
*If travel documents do not show travel to and from Romania, the travel grant will be adjusted according to the applicable shorter distance band.
Participants may not receive Erasmus+ funding for the same mobility period from more than one European institution.
Payment of the Grant The full Erasmus+ grant will be paid in cash in Bucharest, upon arrival (usually on the second day of the mobility). Payment is subject to the completion and signature of the Erasmus+ financial documents
Insurance Participants must hold valid travel insurance covering the entire mobility period, including travel days.
