By creating partnerships and maintaining a tight relationship with the labour market, new instruments and development programmes appear, meant for the students’ advancement on their personal and professional paths.
The adaptation of students and of the curricula to the rapid changes of the labour market largely depends on the involvement of the employers in this process. Projects have been carried out in collaboration with them, such as “UnibucPM”, a project that brings employers, professors and students together in discussions and conferences regarding the actual demand and offer on the labour market, and that creates competence maps which are important for students to be able to decide on their professional path and to self-evaluate the degree to which their chosen career is adequate.
During the “Career Days” event, agents from HR departments hold trainings on professional subjects, present full-time and part-time job offers, internships, volunteering and practice opportunities and internal programmes meant for students and graduates.
We periodically carry out research through questionnaires and interviews addressed to the employers, such as “The perception of employers on the competences of UB graduates”.
Spokespersons of partnering companies partake into career development workshops, instructional sessions regarding the creation of a personal portfolio (CV, letter of intent) and the attendance to an interview.
Bi-annually, the meetings of the Education Industry Council, created in collaboration with AmCham facilitate the communication between employers, representatives of the academic environment and students.
Considering the major changes that took place in the last years on the labour market, the continuous need to adapt of the curricula to its requirements, and to facilitate professional insertion of students and graduates, the importance of the connection between education and employers grows every year, as it is experienced on the levels of all involved factors.
