The University of Bucharest stands out among Romania’s leading providers in the fields of professional training and lifelong learning. On Friday, 16th of October 2026, the University’s Lifelong Learning Service and the Training and Consulting Service – UniBuc Consult® – took part in the third edition of the “Training Opportunities Fair,” organized by the Ministry of Labor, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity (MMFTSS).
The event was held in the “Curtea lui Dionis” Hall of the National Library of Romania and brought together over 20 providers in the field of professional training, training centers and competencies assessment centers.
Through the Lifelong learning Centre and the Training and Consulting Service – Unibuc Consult®, the University of Bucharest presented at the fair its training offer and services addressed to both individuals interested in developing their competencies, as well as institutions and organizations seeking academic partners for training, consulting and development projects. UB representatives showcased not only opportunities for professional specialization and further training, but also the training and consultancy services through which academic expertise is made available for professionals, institutions and organizations.
Whether it is a professional seeking to keep pace with the changes in his field, a person preparing for professional reconversion or an organization that needs specialized expertise, the University of Bucharest offers access to academic resources and learning opportunities adapted to a wide range of needs.
Interactions at the fair highlighted the diversity of interests among the public, spanning from human resources, accounting and IT to creative domains and artificial intelligence. The event gathered both adults interested in professional development or changing professional paths and pupils exploring their future educational and career options.

“We believe that a University anchored in society’s needs must be not only a place where future professionals are trained, but also a space that active members in the work market can access to learn, develop or change professional paths. In a society where competencies must perpetually be upgraded, universities has the responsibility to create learning opportunities that are relevant, flexible and aligned to the real needs of the labor market. This is also the direction in which we develop the University of Bucharest lifelong learning programs: our goal is to make the expertise of our professors and researchers accessible to as many people as possible and to generate tangible changes in society”, underlined Professor Lucian Ciolan, PhD, Vice-Rector of the University of Bucharest for Development Projects and Lifelong Learning.

Quality education at every age and any professional stage: the University of Bucharest, a model of the impact of lifelong learning at national level
The University of Bucharest’s ability to transform academic expertise into training programmes with a nationwide impact is demonstrated by one of its most significant recent achievements in the field of professional development: the training of 1,838 sustainable development experts through the postgraduate programme “Expert in Sustainable Development.”
The University of Bucharest organized courses in seven of the country’s eight development regions, exceeding the initial target of 1,754 participants. Implemented in UB through Unibuc Consult®, together with the partners of the program and with the support of the General Office of the Government of Romania – the Department for Sustainable Development, the projects perfectly illustrates the role that universities can have beyond traditional academic training: that of being a strategic partner in developing professional competencies and consolidating the capacities of public institutions in Romania.
