On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, during the “General Assembly” of the Romanian Academy, three members of the academic community of the University of Bucharest were elected corresponding members of the prestigious institution.
Thus, prof. Cristian George Panaiotu, PhD, teaching staff at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Bucharest and PhD in Paleomagnetism applied to geodynamic issues since 1999, was elected a corresponding member of the Section of Geonomics of the Romanian Academy.
In 1992, prof. Cristian George Panaiotu, PhD, was awarded the prize of the Romanian Academy “Ștefan Hepites” for Earth Physics – Geonomy.
Prof. Rodica-Ileana Zafiu, PhD, teaching staff at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest, a pillar of contemporary Romanian linguistics and an example of excellence in the academic milieu, was elected a corresponding member of the Department of Philology and Literature.
Also, the contribution of prof. Rodica-Ileana Zafiu, PhD, in Romanian Linguistics was recognized by the “Timotei Cipariu” and “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” awards of the Romanian Academy.
Prof. Dragoș Paul Aligica, PhD, teaching staff at the Faculty of Business and Administration of the University of Bucharest and doctor in political sciences at Indiana University, Bloomington, in economics at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and in sociology at the University of Bucharest, was elected corresponding member of the Section of philosophy, theology and psychology of the Romanian Academy.
At the beginning of May 2023, prof. Dragoș Paul Aligica, PhD, was elected a member of the Academia Europaea (The Academy of Europe), where he is associated with the “Governance, institutions and policies” and “Social change and social thinking” sections.
