The University of Bucharest and the Arab Society for Fungal Conservation invite you to “The Third International Conference on Medical, Agricultural and Industrial Microbiology. Bacteria, Fungi and Viruses: Friends or Foes?”, organized between 22–24 June 2026.
The event will take place in a hybrid format at the Platform of Research in Biology and Systemic Ecology within the Faculty of Biology of UB (Splaiul Independenței 91-95, Bucharest).
Organized by the Faculty of Biology of UB, the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB) and the Arab Society for Fungal Conservation (ASFC), in partnership with MIRRI-ERIC (Microbial Resource Research Infrastructure – European Research Infrastructure Consortium) and the National Institute for Chemical-Pharmaceutical Research and Development (ICCF) Bucharest, the conference provides an interdisciplinary forum to explore how advances in microbial research translate from academia into real-world applications.
The program of the event features international keynote speakers, interactive workshops, dynamic poster sessions and oral presentations, designed to foster networking, global collaboration, and the exchange of the latest developments in microbial sciences.
The conference welcomes national and international participants including leading academic scientists, professors, researchers and research scholars in microbiology, undergraduate and graduate students with relevant results in the fields.

The best presentations will be awarded
The best presentations will be rewarded with the Prof. Zemo Award for Young Researchers, dedicated to recognizing and encouraging outstanding contributions from the next generation of scholars and scientists.
In order to support early-career talent, this year’s committee will present two distinct awards: Best Oral Presentation Award & Best Poster Presentation Award. The winner of each award will receive a cash prize of 100 USD along with an official certificate.
The award is open to all young researchers (including undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students) registered for the conference who are the primary, presenting author of the accepted abstract. The criteria for establishing the winners are: 1. Scientific Merit: Originality, methodology, and impact of the research, 2. Delivery and Design: Visual clarity of the poster or presentation slides, and overall structure and 3. Engagement: The presenter’s ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and answer questions from the audience.
Note to participants: All eligible presentations are automatically entered into the running. The winners will be announced during the closing ceremony of the conference.
