On Friday, November 7, 2025, the University of Bucharest, in partnership with the European Parliament Liaison Office in Romania, will host the event “Disinformation and Artificial Intelligence – The EU’s role in combating this phenomenon”, a dialogue between members of the European Parliament and students from the University of Bucharest.
The event will begin at 1:00 PM in the “Ioan Mihăilescu” Amphitheatre of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work (Șos. Panduri, no. 90). It is part of the “UniPE – The European Parliament in dialogue with students” program, which aims to bring key European topics closer to young people, particularly university students.
Participation in the debate is free of charge, subject to seat availability, and requires completing the registration form available here.
Speakers will include Nicolae Ștefănuță, Vice-President of the European Parliament and member of the Greens/European Free Alliance Group, Dan Barna, member of the Renew Europe Group in the European Parliament; Professor Marian Preda,Rector of the University of Bucharest; Lecturer Bogdan Oprea, Head of the Department of Journalism at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies; Mădălina Voinea, Coordinator of the Digital Monitoring Program at Expert Forum; and Răzvan Szabo, representative of the European Parliament Liaison Office in Romania.
The debate will be moderated by Eliza Vaș, Head of the Studies Unit at the European Institute of Romania. Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with Members of the European Parliament, University of Bucharest experts, and communication and policy specialists to discuss the EU’s role in countering disinformation.
