Between July 1st 2022 and June 30th 2027, the University of Bucharest unreels, through the Center for Research in Systemic Ecology and Sustainability, the European project titled “Science for Evidence-based and sustainabLe decIsions about NAtural capital”/ SELINA.
The consortium that manages the project comprises 45 partners in 31 countries and the total budget allotted through the Horizon Europe program is 12.213.773 EURO.
SELINA’s goal is to offer support and guidance in the process of making science-based decisions in the field of protection, restoration and durable use of the environment.
Through the collaboration of experts from 50 partner organizations from all 27 member states of the EU, Norway, Switzerland, Israel and the UK, SELINA will set new standards for international cooperation in promoting ecosystemic services preservation (ES) and biodiversity (BD), and in improving ecosystemic conditions (EC).
Offering practical information and solid recommendations to interested parties from both the public and private sectors, SELINA will open the way towards the transformational societal change necessary for reaching the ambitious objectives of the European Strategy for biodiversity 2030 and the European Green Deal pact – the set of initiatives and policies through which the European Commission has aimed to transform Europe in the first neutral continent in regard to climate and pollution by 2050.
