Starting with the 2026–2027 academic year, the University of Bucharest (UB) will open its Multimedia Production Studio, where students from several of the university’s faculties will attend classes, particularly those enrolled at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies (FJSC). The investment totals more than 500,000 lei and has been funded through Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and a sponsorship from Raiffeisen Bank.
The new studio has been designed to support practical training in radio and television journalism, using some of the latest technologies available in the media industry. Its equipment includes a presenter’s desk and LED screen, a 4K multi-camera system, a dedicated control room, streaming and video distribution infrastructure, professional audio recording and mixing systems, an intercom system, and automated LED lighting.
The studio is also designed as a hands-on learning environment, where classroom and seminar activities can be complemented by practical experience and the production of real editorial content. In this way, the technology becomes a tool for bridging academic learning and the rapidly evolving fields of journalism, television, video production, podcasting, and digital communication.
“Through the Multimedia Production Studio, the University of Bucharest is further strengthening its position as a leader in higher education. The studio is the latest in a long line of investments the university has made in recent years to provide students and academic staff with modern workspaces and state-of-the-art equipment that supports the highest standards of teaching.
“Whether through the renovation of the UB Palace and the Panduri Campus, the construction of a new student residence in the Grozăvești Complex, or the transformation of the University House Garden, the University of Bucharest continues to demonstrate that behind the figures showing that our graduates have the highest employment rate lies a clear strategy and a sustained commitment from the university’s leadership, academic staff, and researchers,” said Professor Marian Preda, Rector of the University of Bucharest.
“The University of Bucharest’s new media studio is a tangible example of how investment in infrastructure can translate into meaningful learning opportunities. Through the project EDIS – Digital Ecosystem for Sustainable Learning at the University of Bucharest and the partnerships that helped bring this space to life, we have sought to create an environment where technology supports teaching, experimentation, and the development of skills relevant to today’s professions.
“For students and academic staff, the studio will be an excellent learning resource. It will also support the University of Bucharest’s Communication and PR Department in producing and promoting the academic activities that our teaching staff and researchers carry out every day,” said Professor Lucian Ciolan, Vice-Rector for Development Projects and Continuing Education at the University of Bucharest.
The Multimedia Production Studio was developed and implemented under the coordination of the University of Bucharest’s Communication and PR Department. Funding was provided by the Institutional Development Fund of the Ministry of Education and Research, through Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) as part of the project EDIS – Digital Ecosystem for Sustainable Learning at the University of Bucharest, and through a sponsorship from Raiffeisen Bank, provided via the University of Bucharest’s Virtute et Sapientia Foundation.
