Between 5–6 February 2026, a team of students from the Faculty of Law at the University of Bucharest represented Romania at ConSIMium, a simulation of the work of the Council of the European Union held in Brussels. The event brought together students from all EU Member States, who took on the roles of national ministers, experts, and journalists to negotiate and adopt legislative proposals at EU level.
The Romanian delegation included students from the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest and the Faculty of European Studies of Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj, under the coordination of PhD candidate Maria-Cristina Solacolu.
The Faculty of Law students assumed key roles during the simulation:
- Rareș Ioan Cruț (4th year) – National Expert
- Brigitte Marie Anne Moroianu (4th year) – Minister
- Amalia Georgiana Pană (4th year) – Journalist
The legislative proposal advanced by the team was ultimately adopted in the form supported by Romania. In recognition of his exceptional negotiation skills, Rareș Ioan Cruț was awarded the “Fiercest Negotiator” distinction.
During their visit to Brussels, the team also toured the Permanent Representation of Romania to the European Union. They engaged in in-depth discussions with Mihaela Vasiu, Deputy Permanent Representative to COREPER I, as well as with experts from the Representation, gaining valuable insights into the practical workings of EU decision-making.
