The University of Bucharest continues to attract growing interest in its academic programmes during the July 2026 admissions session. Faculties that have already closed their application periods have reported increases in the number of applications compared with last year, in some cases by nearly 50%, while several degree programmes have reached some of the highest levels of competition in this year’s admissions cycle.
The increasing interest in the University of Bucharest’s academic offer is reflected both in the overall number of applicants and in the growing popularity of degree programmes that prepare students for emerging fields and highly sought-after careers.
One of the most notable increases has been recorded by the Faculty of Political Science, where the International Relations and European Studies (English-taught) programme attracted 323 applications, up from 220 in 2025, representing an increase of nearly 47%. The Security Studies programme also experienced significant growth, rising from 221 to 292 applications, an increase of 32%, confirming the growing appeal of international relations, security studies, and European affairs.
The Faculty of Law has also seen a substantial rise in demand. Applications to its undergraduate Law programme increased by more than 38%, from 1,219 in 2025 to 1,685 in 2026, bringing competition to 5.61 applicants per state-funded place.
Interest in the life sciences continues to grow as well. At the Faculty of Biology, applications to the Biochemistry programme increased by 40%, from 505 to 707, while the Biology programme recorded an almost 39% increase, rising from 626 to 868 applications. Competition has now exceeded 10 applicants per state-funded place in both programmes, reaching 10.85 for Biology and 11.73 for Biochemistry.
The Faculty of Chemistry has likewise reported a significant increase in demand for its programmes. The total number of applications rose from 1,033 to 1,213, representing growth of more than 17%. The Pharmaceutical Chemistry programme recorded the highest level of competition, attracting 419 applicants, equivalent to 16.96 applicants per state-funded place, one of the highest admission ratios at the University of Bucharest this year. The Medical Chemistry and Technological Biochemistry programmes also recorded strong growth in applications, with competition reaching 12.71 and 14.20 applicants per state-funded place, respectively.
The Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies also experienced notable growth, with total applications increasing by more than 16%, from 837 to 973. The most significant increases were recorded by the Advertising and Communication and Public Relations programmes, each attracting approximately 21% more applications than during last year’s admissions session. The Faculty of Business and Administration has also reported a positive trend in applicant interest. The Business Administration programme attracted 984 applicants, up from 910 in 2025, while the Marketing programme received 681 applications, compared with 659 last year.

The data available so far confirm that the University of Bucharest’s academic offer continues to attract an increasing number of applicants. Interest is growing not only in its long-established programmes but also in interdisciplinary fields and areas experiencing strong demand in today’s labour market. For prospective students who have not yet submitted their applications, admissions remain open at the University’s remaining faculties, with application periods at some faculties continuing until 24 July 2026, in accordance with each faculty’s admissions calendar.
