Organised under the CIVIS umbrella, within the University of Bucharest, at the Department of Communication Sciences from the Faculty of Letters, the International Conference New Trends in Information Science, Libraries and Information Behaviour will take place between 7 and 11 April 2025 and will bring together professors and other faculty members, researchers, university library directors, information scientists, librarians, PhD students and LIS master and undergraduate students to discuss cutting-edge topics in the academic environment and in the field of library and information science and share insights and best practices in libraries and information institutions.
The conference will include participants from CIVIS universities (Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, University of Glasgow, UK, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, Stockholm University, Sweden) and participants from the University of Bucharest, along with participants from other prestigious universities abroad and in Romania (Tampere University, Finland, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, Finland, University of Borås, Sweden, Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, Poland, Migration Institute of Finland, University of Piraeus, Greece, West University of Timișoara, “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy).
A pre-conference research workshop with the participation of students from Finland and Romania, will be dedicated to AI, Deep Web and Information Seeking.
The conference will feature discussions on timely issues such as open science and the role of university libraries, AI, scholarly publishing, bibliometrics, future of information studies and perspectives of the librarian profession, hate speech, library users, together with a look back at the history of libraries and history of medicine, and new trends and developments in health sciences libraries and health literacy.
This exciting event will include a keynote lecture on coopetitive information sharing, and three sessions featuring presentations on emerging trends in library and information science and will explore the technological challenges of the future digital information world.
