Art Safari, Romania’s largest event dedicated to art, will reopen its doors on Thursday, March 26, 2026, inviting members of the University of Bucharest (UB) community to explore this year’s three major exhibitions: “Vermont and the Charm of the Belle Époque,” “R: Eminescu, The Rational Poet,” and “Felix Aftene, Journal.”
Starting in 2026, after 12 years and 17 editions hosted in various historic buildings across Bucharest and attracting over one million visitors, Art Safari has found a permanent home in Piața Amzei. This new venue will host international exhibitions developed in partnership with the Goethe-Institut and the Czech Centre.
This edition features three exhibitions:
- “Vermont and the Charm of the Belle Époque” – an exploration of the artistic and social vibrancy of the late 19th century;
- “R: Eminescu. The Rational Poet” – dedicated to a century of artistic representations of Romania’s national poet;
- “Felix Aftene. Journal” – a personal and compelling insight into the work of one of Romania’s most acclaimed contemporary artists.
The exhibitions can be visited from March 26 to July 19, 2026, Thursday through Sunday, between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
Art Safari is one of Romania’s most prominent cultural projects, with a strong educational component. In addition to exhibitions, it offers guided tours and workshops, bringing art closer to the public in an accessible and contemporary format.
This new edition also marks the launch of a special events season, including Brunch at the Museum, The Art of Yoga, and creative workshops such as Art, Bubbles & Desserts, combining artistic exploration with relaxation and memorable experiences.

Exhibition Highlights
Vermont and the Charm of the Belle Époque
This exhibition traces the artistic journey of Nicolae Vermont alongside the iconic Belle Époque period, a time that continues to captivate audiences today. Through the lens of the artist’s life and work, the Belle Époque is revealed in all its complexity—both artistic and social—ranging from academic, monumental art to the emergence of innovative movements seeking to break with tradition.
R: Eminescu, The Rational Poet
This exhibition offers a systematic visual analysis of the vast body of artistic representations of Romania’s national poet, Mihai Eminescu. It also explores illustrations inspired by his literary themes across painting and graphic art, from the late 19th century to the present, featuring artists from Constantin Lecca and Gheorghe Anghel to Corneliu Brudașcu and Mircea Cantor.
Felix Aftene, Journal
A personal and captivating journey into the creative universe of one of Romania’s most prominent contemporary artists.
With a strong educational mission, Art Safari aims to bring art closer to the public and inspire younger generations through art workshops, guided tours, and contemporary exhibitions held in unconventional spaces, such as Henri Coandă International Airport and the Bucharest metro.
Art Safari is a national strategic cultural project supported by the Ministry of Culture and organized in partnership with the Bucharest Municipality Museum, the National Museum of Art of Romania, and the Romanian Cultural Institute.
More information about the exhibitions is available on the Art Safari website, while discounted tickets for the UB community can be purchased at the ticket office in Piața Amzei, no. 13.
