Sunday, January 14th 2024, the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Bucharest hosted an event organized in partnership with the robotics team from the Lauder-Reut Educational Complex, „Hypercube”.
The event took place at the faculty headquarters between 9 AM – 5 PM.
The aim of the event is to promote, among pupils and students in the STEAM area of study ((Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics/ Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), an interdisciplinary approach to critical thinking development among pupils.
In the opening of the event, the attendants had the chance to find out more about the bachelor program in “Robotics”, available for study at the UB Faculty of Physics. The opening presentation was followed by a series of STEAM workshops, as well as exhibition stands of several robotics team’s affiliated to a few of Bucharest’s high schools.
During the event, professor Virgil Băran, director of the project “SciResCareer – Regional Centre for Orientation and Counselling in the Researcher Career – Bucharest – Ilfov – from pre-university education to advanced research” presented the attendants the manner in which science can bring its contribution in developing solutions for environmental and people’s health. The SciResCareer Project is centered on developing, implementing and making the Regional Centre for Orientation and Counselling in the Researcher Career – Bucharest – Ilfov operable. Thus, its mission is to represent a singular contact point for graduates, PhD students, young researchers and seniors, teaching staff engaged in the research activity, physicians, economists, engineers, entrepreneurs and other socio-professional categories who wish to explore and develop a research career.
Through this event, we aim to bring STEAM areas closer to the present generations, by introducing innovative subjects such as digital ethics, cybernetic security and IT, highlighted the organizers.
The robotics team of the Lauder-Reut Educational Complex, „Hypercube”, has a history of remarkable results in the international competition First Tech Challenge, the most important robotics competition at pre-university level in Romania, organized by Nație prin Educație.
The Robotics bachelor program, organized by the University of Bucharest, has as its main objective to educate future specialists in the field of Robotics. The program offers students the opportunity to apply theoretical and practical concepts to improve the engineering and developing of apps in the field of robotics and mechatronics. Thus, students will develop communication abilities and skills in solving specific problems, and they will also become capable of using these abilities in projecting, testing and improving a large array of components.
