On Thursday, 10 April 2025, the International Conference New Trends in Information Science, Libraries and Information Behaviour took place under the CIVIS umbrella, within the Department of Communication Sciences from the Faculty of Letters.
The conference was organized by Octavia Madge, associate professor at the Faculty of Letters
The University of Bucharest was represented at the event by associate professor Constantin Vică, PhD, Vice-Rector for Internalization and Public Relations and professor at the Faculty of Philosophy at UB. He was joined by prof. dr. habil. Alexandru Nicolae, Vice-Dean for Internationalization and Research at the Faculty of Letters at UB.
The conference also included participants from CIVIS universities (Prof. dr. Ann Gow, University of Glasgow, UK, Associate Professor dr. The conference brought together professors and other faculty members, researchers, university library directors, information scientists, librarians, PhD candidates, LIS master’s and undergraduate students interested in the topic.
The conference addressed cutting-edge topics in the academic environment and in the field of library and information science such as open science and the role of university libraries, AI, scholarly publishing, bibliometrics, future of information studies and perspectives of the librarian profession, hate speech, library users, and new trends and developments in health sciences libraries and health literacy.
This exciting event included a keynote lecture on coopetitive information sharing, three sessions featuring presentations on emerging trends in library and information science and explored the technological challenges of the future digital information world.
