From October 28 – November 2, 2025, the University of Bucharest invites bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students from all 20 faculties to take part in a new edition of the IDEAS coLABORATORY project.
Now at its fourth edition, the event will be held at the University of Bucharest’s Zoological Research Station in Sinaia, with all accommodation and meal costs fully covered by the university.
In the past editions, we explored solutions to attract more students to UB, develop sustainable projects, and identify new ways to bring science closer to society. This year, the theme is Citizen Science.
Citizen Science is about the ways in which each of us can contribute to research. It can be simple – gaining a better understanding of science’s impact on society – or hands-on: observing, collecting data, analyzing information, or even supporting a project. You decide how and to what extent you get involved. What matters is that science becomes open and participatory, with benefits for both sides: the community and researchers alike.
Citizen Science projects are already showing remarkable results worldwide: they increase public trust in research, make education more engaging, and influence key decisions through concrete data. Now it’s time for the University of Bucharest to step up as a major player in this field!
At IDEAS coLABORATORY 4.0, we aim to:
identify existing Citizen Science projects at UB and make them more visible;
design 1–2 new projects together, with real potential for funding and growth;
position the University of Bucharest as a key player in Citizen Science.
All you need to do is convince us that you can bring valuable ideas to help make science more accessible: by filling out the registration form available until Sunday, September 21, 2025.
To spark your creativity, here are a few guiding questions your idea might address:
How could you bring UB researchers closer to the general public?
How would you use knowledge and science to support societal development?
What steps should the University of Bucharest take to open up science to the wider community?
What communication channels and tactics would be most effective?
Bold ideas are your ticket into the IDEAS coLABORATORY
We invite you to bring a daring proposal on how the University of Bucharest could develop and showcase Citizen Science projects—open, participatory science built together with the community.
You won’t be alone: you’ll have the chance to collaborate with students from across the university and benefit from the guidance of Ada Roseti, president of SCIPublicForum, organizer of the national Games of Science competition, and a specialist in science communication.
Your ideas matter! Sign up now and put them into practice at IDEAS coLABORATORY 4.0!
