In the name of the academic community of the University of Bucharest, I express my deep regrets following the tragedy that took place on December 21st 2023 at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. I offer my condolences to the families of the young people who were killed and I stand with all those who have been injured in the attack, wishing them a full recovery.
Higher education institutions should be places of knowledge, spaces for debating ideas and also places of research meant to ensure a better and, not lastly, a safer future. Thus, the community at the University of Bucharest expresses its solidarity to the entire academic community of Charles University in these difficult times, both for professors and students, as well as the Czech people.
