Students of the University of Bucharest (UB) aged between 18 and 35 are invited to register and take part in “Media Literacy in the Age of AI”, an ideathon dedicated to developing innovative solutions for tackling disinformation in the age of artificial intelligence.
This event is part of British Council’s Youth Connect programme, delivered in partnership with the Fundația Națională pentru Tineret (National Youth Foundation), Funky Citizens and ThinkYoung.
The online application form iis available here and can be completed until 9 November 2025, at 23:59 (Romania time).
The ideathon will take place between 22–23 November 2025, at The Youth – National Youth Foundation (22 Christian Tell Street, sectort 1, Bucharest), and will be preceded by an optional team-building session on 21 November, from 17:30 to 19:30.
“Media Literacy in the Age of AI” is a two-day training programme that gives participants the opportunity to:
• understand how artificial intelligence shapes media and public opinion;
• identify bias, disinformation, and manipulation online;
• reflect on their own digital habits and leadership role;
• collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to develop concrete solutions to today’s information challenges.
Throughout the ideathon, participants will learn from leading media and technology experts, build digital leadership skills, and have the chance to win a study visit to Belfast, where they will meet other European teams involved in similar programmes.
The event is open to young people who are active in academic, civic, or professional settings and who are curious about the intersection of media, technology, and civic engagement.
No prior experience in artificial intelligence or media literacy is required – only a genuine interest in learning and collaboration.
Participants are expected to attend the entire duration of the programme. Lunch, snacks, and refreshments will be provided by the organizers.
