In February 2023, members of the University of Bucharest community are invited to the performances of the students at the National University of Theater and Cinematography “I.L. Caragiale” (UNATC) from Bucharest.
Thus, UB students, professors and administrative staff have the opportunity to take part for free, by booking through online forms, to three UNATC plays: D’ale Carnavalului (six performances), Cosmic Latte (four performances) and Iubiri Senile (two performances).
All performances will take place in the UNATC Workshop Hall (Strada Matei Voievod, no. 75-77, sector 2, Bucharest).
D’ale Carnavalului, a show with Caragiale’s ladies and gentlemen
Between February 9-24, 2023, starting at 19:00, interested persons can attend six performances of D’ale Carnavalului.

“The year 1885? No, no, we’d say it’s about current events. Nenea Iancu stays in the first row from ancient times to our times. Because D’ale Carnavalului is the universe of the national being that will never perish. His unbridled sense of humor, laugh-out-loud speech and situations that confuse and untangle heroes and heroines make Caragiale a precious friend. It is that creator of beauty that we always return to without feeling in any way the age difference that grows from year to year. The ladies and gentlemen of Caragiale, the Mythicals and the Bibics, the Mitiles and the Didines, with their pathos worthy of ancient characters are permanently part of us. We find them every day, recognize them and laugh with them as in an eternal carnival. Their world is our world: laugh-out-loud laughter, laugh-out-loud jokes, and necessarily the happy ending!

Cosmic Latte, an artistic manifestation of theater and dance
Between 12-28 February 2023, starting at 20:00, interested persons can take part in four performances of Cosmic Latte.The event calendar, cast list, more details on the show, as well as online booking forms can be consulted and filled out here.Full of energy, the show, created according to a concept by Ștefan Lupu – theater and film actor and dancer – will make the audience laugh and cry, from agony to ecstasy. It talks about the fragility of the surrounding and inner world through a spectrum adapted to the needs of each of us, starting from personal ideas and concepts brought to the stage through choreographic language.“Cosmic Latte touches on themes like death, birth, trauma, love. A single show that goes through these fundamental topics through episodes, giving the viewer time to empathize and relate to the stories of the actors. Beyond the diverse themes that Cosmic Latte manages to bring together, the show also builds a cosmos of artistic expression. Dance, live music, video projections – a mix of means that both the performers and the technical team make available to the public. A project in which the union of contemporary dance with acting led to the creation of a total show”, is the description of the show.
Iubiri Senile, a Commedia dell’Arte show
On February 25 and 26, 2023, starting at 19:00, interested persons have the opportunity to take part in two performances of Iubiri Senile.The event calendar, cast list, more details on the show, as well as online booking forms can be consulted and filled out here.“It’s a Commedia dell’Arte show full of quotes, games, rhythm, that makes you laugh, move and think. More exactly, the synthesis of the theater. The story is very simple, but with deep themes, for example, the typical one of today’s society, where the old people pretend to be young, without giving way to the new generations. But here, unlike life, because the theater is the most beautiful part of life, everything will be settled, and everyone will be happy. And the audience will be able to leave the hall with a new hope”, is the description of the artistic event.The direction and the script are signed by Michele Modesto Casarin, director, pedagogue and actor, internationally recognized expert in mask theater.
