On May 27-28, 2026, the University of Bucharest, alongside the Cyberint National Center, the U.S. Embassy in Romania and the FBI Office for Romania and Moldova, and in partnership with Google, IBM, Vodafone, Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, and Chainalysis, is organizing the inaugural edition of the CyberNext Bucharest cybersecurity conference.
The event, organized with the participation of the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB) and the UB Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, will take place at the headquarters of the UB Faculty of Sociology and Social Work (90 Panduri Road), in the “Ioan Mihăilescu” Amphitheater (room 205, 1st floor). Parallel sessions will be held in room 103, located on the ground floor of the building.
The conference will bring together high-level decision-makers from key public institutions with responsibilities in this field, as well as from top companies in the cybersecurity sphere, alongside prestigious experts from the academic community and representatives of law enforcement institutions.
The event is primarily addressed to students of all study levels interested in the conference themes, as well as to specialists and researchers with interests in the field.
The inaugural edition of the CyberNext Bucharest conference will open with remarks from Prof. Marian Preda, PhD, Rector of the University of Bucharest, Mr. George J. Schultzel, FBI Law Enforcement Attaché for Romania and Moldova, and Prof. Paul Irofti, PhD, a faculty member at the University of Bucharest’s Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and a cybersecurity specialist.
The second day of the conference will kick off with the presentation “Cybersecurity in Practice: Challenges and Opportunities Ahead,” delivered by Professor Paul Irofti and Mr. George J. Schultzel.
Additionally, the schedule for each of the two days will include presentation sessions on current issues regarding the relationship between AI and cybersecurity, as well as applied parallel sessions dedicated to the skills required in the cybersecurity sector and concrete career opportunities in this field.
