The Federal Ministry for Science, Research and Economy of Austria (BMWFW) and the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM) invite the scientific community of the University of Bucharest to nominate young researchers for winning the Danubius Young Scientist Award.
The Danubius Prize was created in 2011, with the aim to award scientist with exceptional achievements, in all scientific disciplines, as well as those with remarkable results in research related to the Danube area.
The competition is meant to reward the talent of young researchers and, at the same time, to increase the visibility of the scientific community in each region. Moreover, the competition encourages young researchers to get involved in the scientific approach of the complex aspects specific to the Danube region.
Thus, 14 young researchers will receive this prize – one prize for each country that is part of the EU strategy for the Danube Region: Romania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Moldavia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine. The organizers will grant 1.350 euro to each winner of the Danubius Young Scientist Award.
The selection process
Nomination of candidates for the Danubius Young Scientist Award cannot be done by the candidates themselves; candidates must be nominated by the host institution. Thus, the number of nominations for each institution is limited to 5 persons from faculties, departments, institutes, or different research groups.
The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, May 3rd 2024, at 11:59 PM CEST.
More details about the necessary documents, the process of nominating the candidates, as well as the registration form are available here.
The award ceremony will take place Thursday, November 14th 2024, at Krems, Austria.
At the same time, with the support of the Research Centre of the European Commission, the winners will also be invited to visit one of their facilities in Ispra, Italy, in 2025.
