Between November 2-5, a delegation of the University of Bucharest participated in the 2023 edition of the “Success in entrepreneurship ecosystem development” event. The training and professional development program organized by the Romanian American Foundation aimed to encourage the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Romanian universities.
Part of the delegation of the University of Bucharest, led by the UB rector, prof. Marian Preda, PhD, were prof. Claudiu-Paul Buglea, PhD, president of the Senate of the University of Bucharest, prof. Magdalena Iordache-Platis, PhD, vice-rector for Quality Management, Social Responsibility and Relations with social partners, prof. Lucian Ciolan, PhD, vice-rector for Development Projects, Long-life Learning and Educational Infrastructure, assoc. prof. Sorin Costreie, PhD, vice-rector for University Networks and Public Relations, as well as prof. Bogdan Murgescu, PhD, vice-rector for Budget and Human Resources, as well as prof. Răzvan Mihail Papuc, PhD, dean of the Faculty of Business and Administration of UB, and prof. Otniel Bunaciu, PhD, dean of the Faculty of Baptist Theology of UB.
During the 4 days of the training and professional development program, the delegation of the University of Bucharest participated in workshops, debates and round tables on entrepreneurship topics. The activities, carried out in an interactive and innovative framework, including Design Thinking, followed the methodology specific to the Agile Ways of Working approach, focused on the client, to stimulate the creation of new U-BEE (University Based Entrepreneurship Ecosystems) projects.
Also, during the event, concrete actions to develop the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the University of Bucharest were identified, from the Senior Leadership orientation to the analysis of resources and dissemination mechanisms in order to generate impact, both among the academic community and in society. In this context, the representatives of the University of Bucharest have proposed that in the next period they will develop a sectoral strategy for the development of university entrepreneurship, centered around the initiative to build an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub at the University House.
The University of Bucharest, promoter of entrepreneurship among students
In recent years, the University of Bucharest has organized a series of events dedicated to the development of entrepreneurial skills among the students of the 19 faculties.
Thus, during the period 4-13 May 2023, the Student Entrepreneurial Society (UNIHUB) invited the students at the University of Bucharest from all cycles to an entrepreneurial skills course that included 5 modules: Introduction to entrepreneurship, Business Management, Entrepreneurial Marketing, Development of the business model, Sustainable entrepreneurship. The entrepreneurial skills course Learn to think and act like an entrepreneur was organized within the project CNFIS-FDI-2023-F-0117- UB students and graduates-successful entrepreneurs, sustainable entrepreneurs (SMARTBUSINESS).
Also, within the same project, on Thursday, November 9, 2023, the Student Entrepreneurial Society (UNIHUB) is organizing, in partnership with the Faculty of Business and Administration of the University of Bucharest, the 5th edition of the student scientific communications session on entrepreneurship: “Thinking and entrepreneurship for sustainable development”. The event is open to students who want to present their business ideas and entrepreneurship topics to members of the UB community. Teaching staff, entrepreneurs and researchers will provide support to UB students.
Last but not least, the University of Bucharest supports the entrepreneurial initiatives of students through two projects: INNOTECH STUDENT INSPIRE 2020! – Innovative businesses for a successful entrepreneurial environment and UBTECH! – Innovative entrepreneurship program for successful businesses.
